What Are Some Fruit and Vegetable Shake Recipes For Your Diet?

,
Paleolithic Diet Recipes :

Dieting and eating health food is not just about weight and health. It also has to do (at least it should) with taste and enjoyment. From the time of the first cave man, and probably earlier, humans have been social animals. And perhaps the best, most wildly practiced arena for socializing is during meals. In the first place it is a great excuse to gather people together. It happens regularly unlike with bears for example, who gorge themselves and then go to sleep for months on end. (No wonder the get cranky). It is a moment for sharing not only the social contact, but also sharing the delight of a great tasting meal.

What Are Some Fruit and Vegetable Shake Recipes For Your Diet?

Humans have shown great creativity in many departments, but few bring greater enjoyment than creativity around the kitchen, and here you can also find a wealth of alternatives in the classical "shakes"

There are many fruit and vegetable shakes to consider when trying to eat more healthily or when trying to diet and you can always add your personal touch - a bit more honey, ground nuts, or whatever tickles you fancy. Then there is just one small step to share, not exactly like the first cavemen, but good enough.

When dieting or trying to eat healthier, the goal is to eat more natural foods. At times it's difficult to eat a wide variety of natural foods during the day. Some don't go with other foods that well, while others are harder to deal with in the form that they are in. One option is to take all this good food and turn it into shakes that are much easier to manage and eat.

One of the most common drinks is called the green drink. This is typically two bananas, one apple, and some leafy greens like kale or another one that you might prefer. Mix this up with water and ice depending on how thick or watery you want the drink. You can vary the amount of water or ice depending on what you like. The fruit typically outweighs the green leafy taste. If you need more sweet, add in something like honey or more fruit.

Another variation is to use berries as the base versus bananas. Take a cup of berries, generally blueberries since they are easy to get, add in ice and water, and put in healthy seeds like flax or chia along with some greens. If you freeze the berries beforehand, it will make a much better shake.

Another option is a hot or spicy drink. This would include peppers, a tomato, and lots of leafy greens along with some water. Blend it on high to make sure it's completely liquid or close to it.

Some people who want to maximize nutrition will simply sacrifice taste. The idea is to make a liter or two of quality nutrition from fruits, vegetable, nuts, herbs, and seeds that are good for the body.

All of the things that should be eaten on a regular basis are thrown into this drink so that it can be sipped on during the morning or alternatively as your breakfast meal.

From the point of view of giving your taste buds a treat, there are other things you can do, but it is the simplest way of getting quality nutrition that is low in calories and good for the body.

Natural Stevia Based Sweeteners for Your Health

,
Paleolithic Diet Recipes :

Introduction

Natural Stevia Based Sweeteners for Your Health

From a health standpoint sugar is your enemy but this does not mean you must give up sweeteners. The sweetener stevia is made from the leaves of stevia rebaudiana, a plant that is native to South America. In December 2008 Stevia was approved as a natural sweetener by the Food and Drug Administration. This cleared the way for many people to be able to enjoy its benefits.

Since approved as a sweetener the use of stevia has risen rapidly in the US. It is now available under the brand names such as Only Sweet, SweetLeaf, fructevia, Slimtevia, Nustevia, PureVia, Reb-A and Truvia. The following is representative but not an exhaustive list of stevia based sweeteners.

Stevia products

SweetLeaf

SweetLeaf® is made by using the leaves of the stevia plant and extracting their naturally sweet taste with only cool, purified water. No chemicals, alcohols, or additives are used. SweetLeaf® is the only chemical-free, zero-calorie, zero-carb, zero-glycemic index, 100% natural sweetener. Stevia is very sweet and contains zero calories. It is a good choice for use when trying to lose weight. A teaspoon of table sugar for example, contains 16 calories. Stevia seems to be the ideal sweetener for people watching their weight and needing to control their blood sugar. It however has a bitter after taste that some people find objectionable.

Fructevia

Fructevia is a blend of Rebaudioside A an extract from stevia, Fructose, Magnesium Carbonate, and nutritional supplements called Fructo-Oligosaccharides.

Fructevia is about three times as sweet as sugar so you use 1/3 to half as much. The company guaranties Fructevia will not have a bitter after taste. There are no genetically modified organisms (GMO's) in Fructevia and it contains no Gluten or chemicals. It is completely a product of nature. Fructevia is a healthful sweetener but much sweeter than sugar yet with a small fraction of the calories and virtually no effect on blood sugar. It is the Fructose that keeps the stevia from being bitter. This is particularly true when only small amounts are used.

The Magnesium in Fructevia is an important mineral for your health including nerves, muscles, bones, and heart. Studies have reported that Americans are dangerously magnesium-deficient.

What is fructose?

Fructose, or fruit sugar, in Fructevia is a monosaccharide (simple sugar) found in many plants. The glycemic index for Fructose is low (19). Fructose has the lowest Index rating of all natural sugars. Fructose is not the same as high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS).

SLIMTEVIA

The ingredients of Slimtevia are basically this same as that of Fructevia. Slimtevia like Fructevia adds a little fructose to eliminate the bitter after taste and still have a product that does not raise your blood sugar level. Slimtevia like Fructevia doesn't spike your blood sugar and does not have the bitter taste associated with pure stevia.

NuStevia

An individual packet is one serving which is ½ tsp. powder (1). A packet of NuStevia contains 80 mg of stevia and 920 mg of Maltodextrinand a very small amount of natural flavors. Thus NuStevia is only 8.96% stevia and over 91% is maltodextrin. The glycemic index for maltodextrin is 150 which is high.Maltodextrinis a type of carbohydrate. It is produced from starch by partial hydrolysis. The actual glycemic index for maltodextrin (150) is high. The amount of maltodextrin however a serving of NuStevia White Stevia is less than a gram. This mixture with 91% maltodextrin is reported to not have the bitter after taste associated with regular stevia even though it will increase your blood sugar level a little. 1 tspof NuSteviais as sweet as 1 tspof sugar (1 cup= 1 cup).

Truvia

The development of Truvia was supported by a major large soft drink company who was instrumental in causing FDA to approve the use of stevia. The power of money is interesting indeed. Truvia is a stevia-based sugar substitute. Truvia is a combination of two different types of sweeteners: rebiana and erythritol with natural flavors. Erythritol is a "sugar alcohol" made by fermenting glucose with yeast. Sugar alcohols are generally recognized as safe but they can cause bloating, gas, diarrhea and can have a laxative effect. Erythritol tends to present less of a problem of these effects than other types of sugar alcohols.

Rebiana is the main ingredient in Truvia. It's a purified form of rebaudioside A, which is one of the components of the stevia plant. Since its introduction in 2008, Truvia has become the number two selling sugar substitute in the United States, surpassing Equal and Sweet'n Low. It is still small next to Splenda which reportedly has negative health implications. Splenda is not a stevia product. Splenda represents 60% of the sugar substitute market. Splenda will give you a big sugar spike as it is 95% Malto-Dextrin or some variant thereof. The Glycemic Index is higher than Table Sugar. Truvia and PureVia are both stevia extract sweeteners sold by major economic powers who market soft drinks.

PureVia

PureVia® is Pepsi's sweetener developed from stevia. It is low-calorie sugar substitute developed jointly by PepsiCo and Whole Earth Sweetener Company PureVia is a blend of several different ingredients. It contains dextrose, cellulose powder; natural flavors as well as the stevia extract rebaudioside A.
Summary

Some stevia products such as sweetleaf are made by just extracting the sweetener using water without any additives producing a safe and healthy product. Fructevia and Slimtevia add a little fructose to eliminate the bitter after taste associated with stevia. They are a healthy sweetener that does not raise your blood sugar level. NuStevia uses Maltodextrin to eliminate the bitter taste of stevia. A serving contains 80 mg of Stevia extract and 920 mg of Maltodextrin. Thus NuStevia contains only 8.96% stevia and over 91% maltodextrin. Truvia and PureVia® are developed sweeteners from stevia and made by two major soft drink manufactures.

How to Get Rid of Belly Fat - A Simple Belly Fat Diet

,
Paleolithic Diet Recipes :

Getting rid of belly fat can be hard for both young and old alike. This is primarily due to the types of information that goes around about losing weight. You have probably come across some off-the-wall diets like the cabbage diet or cookie diet. It's not surprising that most diets fail because they are not meant for long term results. People who try fad diets may lose weight in the short term but almost always gain back what they've lost and then some.

How to Get Rid of Belly Fat - A Simple Belly Fat Diet

I've always believed that keeping things simple works the best. Shedding excess weight shouldn't be a complicated thing either. Your best bet is not to fall for the short-term fad diets. Losing your belly comes down to a very simple plan which involves a new way of eating and efficient, time saving exercises. I have done some research of my own and have learned that eating healthy is simply a matter of cutting out processed foods and refined sugar. It isn't as hard as it sounds.

In fact, there is a way of eating that many people follow and have no problem doing so. It is called the paleo diet (also known as the caveman diet or hunter-gatherer diet) which is short for paleolithic. Essentially, this way of eating consists of lean meat, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, nuts, and good fats. Since you are consuming good fats, you will stay satisfied throughout the day unlike other diets that leave you feeling hungry.

There is plenty of research online about the paleo diet. However, you should always consult with your doctor before starting a new way of eating. The same goes for exercise. If you haven't exercised in years, you should get your doctor's advice before jumping into it. For the most part, the best belly fat exercises involves lifting weights and circuit training (interval training.) Most people get stuck doing cardio and do very little strength training. Muscle burns calories even at rest. Therefore, the more muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn.

Your exercise plan shouldn't take any more than 45 minutes tops, a few times a week. I understand that the above diet and exercise plan isn't for everyone. It may be a bit too much to handle right away. Everyone has their own fitness goals and requirements. The key is to learn how to burn fat in a way that is effective for you.

Grapes - Good For Health

,
Paleolithic Diet Recipes :

Grapes have all the virtues necessary to form and restore an individual health. It has calories for body energy and contains a perfect balance of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and water, which alone might suffice make you to live for ten days without eating anything else.

Grapes - Good For Health

While grapes contain sugar almost 88% carbohydrate per 100g, its good sugar: fructose and mannitol is present in ripe grapes. For this reason, it can be eaten by diabetics and is recommended in case of hypoglycemia. That is what will give you energy to spare, without increasing the level of sugar in your blood.

Grapes also improve your bowel movement because of the mannitol and fibers: indissoluble in the skin of grapes and in soluble gum, pectin, polysaccharides of grapes. These soluble fibers also guard against cardiovascular disease as they regulate cholesterol and blood pressure.

Grapes are also composed of enzymes that strengthen your immune system, destroying germs and bacteria that lodge in your intestines and can easily absorb nutrients from your diet.

The fruit is also very rich in water almost 80% and are a very good complement to the two liters of liquids that you take a day to renew the water in your cells, your muscles and to moisturize your skin to eliminate toxins. Without the daily fluid intake, you may be more tired, less alert, and more prone to muscle aches.

But the water in the grapes is superior to mineral water because it allows your body to absorb trace elements present in grapes such as potassium and silicon more easily. Potassium can reduce blood pressure, combat fatigue, cramps and heaviness in legs. As for silicon, it helps relieve arthritis, rheumatism, delaying the aging of the skin, making the arteries more flexible and thus helping to prevent heart attacks.

It also contain magnesium in a liquid form so it can be easily assimilated and magnesium is a good anti-stress and anti-fatigue element.

Finally, grapes contain three important vitamins: B indispensable to the renewal of your cells and acts as an anti-depressant (especially B6), and vitamin C that restores tone and is an antioxidant, which therefore slows the aging of cells, reduces cardiovascular disease and has a preventive effect against cancer, and finally vitamin E which is an excellent antioxidant, anti-aging, anti-fatigue agent.

So, grapes are a wonderful fruit that concentrate all the benefits needed to balance the revitalization, protection and maintenance of youth and great body.

Some advise eating nothing but grapes at all meals 3 kg per day for 10 days. Because of its composition, it would prepare your body to face the winter and early fall and you would lose weight because of its diuretic effect.

Paleo Meals

,
Paleolithic Diet Recipes :

Sometimes the easiest foods to prepare are really the best.

Paleo Meals

More often what we want to learn on a day-to-day basis is a bunch of quick and easy recipes that we can prepare without spending too much time. Add up to that is purchasing expensive ingredients just to prepare a single meal.

We heard about Paleo Diet or Paleo meals. The "Paleo Diet" also referred to as the caveman diet is a way of obtaining nutrition based on the assumed ancient eating plan of wild animals and plants that various human species constantly consumed during the Paleolithic era.

One healthful recipe which you can all prepare in about 20 minutes or less is Pork chops with apples and onions. You will be needing 4 bone-in pork chops, with the trimmings; 3 tbsp lard, butter; ghee or coconut oil; 2 large onions, sliced; 4 sliced and cored apples; Salt and pepper to taste. Heat a large pan over a medium-high heat. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper to taste. Melt 2 tbsp of the cooking fat and fry the chops, about 5 minutes on each side, until well-cooked and browned. Set the pork chops aside, reduce the heat to medium-low, add the other tbsp of cooking fat and add the onion and apple slices. Cook for about 4 minutes, until the onions have caramelized and the apple slices are slightly soft. You can serve the chops with the toppings of apple and onions for a mouth-watering meal.

An additional beneficial Paleo recipe is liver & onions. Prepare 4 large slices pork or beef liver; 5 large onions, sliced; 6 tbsp butter or lard; salt and pepper to taste. Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat and add 5 tbsp of the butter and the sliced onions. Cook slowly, stirring often, for about 20 to 25 minutes, until the onions are really soft and caramelized. Near the end of the cooking process of the onions, heat another pan over a medium-high heat and cook the liver with the rest of the cooking fat, about 3 minutes on each side. Serve the liver topped with the delicious and creamy cooked onions. This is also delicious served with a little bit of homemade salsa on the side.

These recipes are all fine and enjoyable, very easy and simple to prepare. You just need to be more cautious on your intake, and the body's necessary requirement.

Here are some tips in preparing healthy Paleo Meals.

• Low to moderate carbohydrates and moderate protein are essential.
• Use stable saturated fats like coconut oil, tallow butter and lard are good for cooking.
• Cook using more animal parts as possible and you can use bones to make stocks and broths.
• Eat cooked and raw vegetables that come from different varieties.
• Lessen the use of dairy products other than butter and maybe heavy cream.
• Consider supplements that provide vitamin D.
• Eliminate or reduce highly refined products such as sugar and refined-grain products like bread and pasta.
